Pongal Celebration – 12th January 2026

Pongal Celebration in Our College

Our college celebrated Pongal with great enthusiasm and traditional spirit on 12th January 2026.

The campus was beautifully decorated with colorful kolams, sugarcane, turmeric plants, and traditional pots, creating a vibrant festive atmosphere.

The celebration began with a prayer, thanking nature, farmers, and the Sun God for a good harvest

Since I am from Kerala, this celebration was entirely new to me. I had heard about Pongal before, but this was the first time I experienced it directly. I felt excited to learn about the importance of thanking nature, the Sun God, and farmers for the harvest. It reminded me of harvest festivals celebrated in Kerala, like Onam, and I could see the similarities in expressing gratitude and unity.

Students and staff gathered together to prepare the traditional Pongal in decorated clay pots. As the pongal overflowed from the pot, everyone joyfully chanted “Pongalo Pongal,” symbolizing prosperity and abundance.

Many cultural programmes were organized to make the celebration lively and memorable. Students participated in folk dances, traditional songs, and fun games that reflected Tamil culture and heritage. The event also encouraged unity and teamwork among students.

Personally, I felt happy and grateful to be part of such a beautiful tradition. Though it was new to me, I truly enjoyed every moment. This Pongal celebration not only introduced me to Tamil culture but also taught me the value of respecting and appreciating different traditions. It became a memorable and enriching experience in my B.Ed. journey.

The entire day was filled with joy, tradition, and togetherness, making it a beautiful memory in our B.Ed. journey. 🌾✨
